About Impact test

Impact Testing of metals is performed to determine the impact resistance or toughness of materials by calculating the amount of energy absorbed during
fracture.

The impact test of the color coated steel plate is used to evaluate the ability of the specimen to resist cracking or peeling when subjecting rapid deformation. The impact resistance is also called impact strength, refers to the sample under the impact of the hammer subject to free fall, the specimen rapid deformation and formation of convex area, check whether the convex area is cracked or shedding. This is to assess steel coating's resist cracking or falling off ability. Without crack or fall off , it shows the steel coating's adhesion.

The instrument used in the impact test is the impact tester, the color coated steel plate test commonly use special instruments, according to the national standard GB/T13448-2006, its punch diameter is 15.87mm (5/8in), and "qualified/ unqualified" and "maximum impact function" two ways to represent the test results. The former is checked with tear tape to specify whether the coating is stripped after impact , with a magnifying glass to observe whether the coating has cracked; The latter is by changing the weight of hammer and fall height, to find out the maximum mass and maximum height of the coating without cracking or peeling, and the multiply results as the maximum impact function. Its experimental principle is to let the hammer fall freely, impact the color coated steel sample, make the sample deformation, and gradually increase the height or hammer weight.Color coated steel anti-fast deformation capacity is multiply results of the hammer's weight and height. The impact index of color coated steel plate is generally controlled at no less than 9J.
