Handling, Transportation, and Storage of Pre-painted Steel Sheets
1. During loading and unloading, rubber pads should be placed between the lifting equipment and the products to prevent scratches; where possible, specialized lifting equipment should be utilized. Vertical packs of steel coils must also maintain their vertical position during transportation and handling. The products should be transported in their original packaging state as they were when leaving the factory, without arbitrary dismantling.
2. The cargo compartment of the transport vehicle should be cleaned thoroughly, with rubber mats or other protective devices laid on the floor. Necessary protective measures should be taken around the compartment to prevent packaging from being indented or scratched.
3. During transit, products should be securely fastened to prevent any relative movement or rolling that could cause damage to the products or lead to accidents. Strong acids, alkalis, organic solvents, and the like can damage pre-painted steel sheets, and therefore, these substances should not be mixed during transportation.
4. Pre-painted steel sheets should be stored in a dry, ventilated, clean indoor environment, avoiding outdoor storage and areas prone to condensation or significant temperature fluctuations. They should also be protected from all corrosive media. The storage area’s floor should be flat, free of hard objects, and capable of supporting sufficient weight.
5. Horizontal steel coils should preferably be placed on rubber pads, timber supports, or other fixtures, with banding buckles facing upwards. Storage locations should be arranged reasonably for easy access, minimizing unnecessary movement. To prevent crushing, steel coils are typically not stacked; however, if stacking is necessary, the number of layers should be strictly limited, placing heavier and larger ones at the bottom.
6. Adequate space should be reserved in the storage area for lifting equipment operations.
7. It is essential to note that the mechanical properties and coating performance of pre-painted steel sheets may change over time with extended storage.
